Blind Spot 1: Cross-Page Duplicate Content

Common in e-commerce: the “About Us” and “How to Use” paragraphs across 100 product pages are nearly identical, with only the product name swapped out.

This blind spot is especially damaging — you think every page is healthy, but in the LLM’s eyes the whole site is a low-quality “same-template site.”

Blind Spot 2: Trust-Signal Holes

“About Us,” “Privacy,” and “Terms of Service” are hard requirements for E-E-A-T.

What we often see in client health checks: an “About Us” page with only 50 words and a single image. When the LLM sees this, it downgrades the authority signal for the whole site.

Blind Spot 3: Inconsistent Author Bylines

This is also why LLMs are very sensitive to “author consistency” — when judging a site’s credibility, they sample multiple pages and look at the ratio.

When parsing a site, the LLM builds an “internal knowledge graph” — relationships between topic entities are passed along through internal links.

To an LLM, an orphan page is equivalent to “this page isn’t important,” and its citation odds drop sharply.

Why Do LLMs Do “Site-Wide Sampling”?

Many people assume that when an LLM cites a page, it only looks at that page. In reality, mainstream AI platforms run a “site-level trust assessment” during the reranking stage:

That means: if one of your pages is written superbly but the site-wide average is poor — that page’s citation odds still get dragged down.

And the reverse: if your site-wide average is high but a given page is mediocre — that page’s citation odds get pulled up.
